Controversy as Bukola Saraki’s 2023 Presidential Posters Emerge in Abuja

A former president of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, has distanced himself from the 2023 presidential posters sited at some locations in Abuja.

The posters bearing Saraki’s photograph carried inscriptions as: “Reset Nigeria 2023”, “vote Saraki for president”.

The posters were embossed with the logo and signature colours of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, Saraki through his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu, told The Nation in a telephone chat that he neither printed the posters nor assigned anyone to do so on his behalf.

He said:

“When it is time for Dr Saraki to print posters, he will not do so in secret. We will not hide to print posters so we should be the one to ask you for the identities of those behind the printers”

Similarly, Olaniyonu told Vanguard that Saraki had nothing to do with the posters

In another report, Salihu Lukman, the director-general of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) has said All Progressives Congress (APC) may not be able to win the next presidential election.

According to The Punch, Lukman, made the statement on Monday, April 12, in a paper titled, Determining Factors for 2023 Contests in APC: Internal Contest and Inconvenient Reality.

Lukman advised members of the ruling party against having what he called “blind trust” in some of the leaders.

He called for regulation of party leaders’ activities especially elected representatives, saying the inability to do this will be injurious to the vision of the APC.

Meanwhile, a member of Lagos House of Assembly, Jude Idimogu and the state chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musliu Akinsanya, have pledged unalloyed support for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu's rumoured presidential ambition.

A member of the Lagos Assembly, Jude Idimogu, said that Tinubu has the capacity to lead the country.

The lawmaker stated that Tinubu has proven his political sagacity when he was the governor of the state.
