Leonardo Bonucci has defended his team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo following his spot-kick miss during their second-leg semifinal clash against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia on Friday, June 12.

Juventus are through to the final of this year's Coppa Italia championship on an away goals' rule despite failing to find the back of the net in the second leg of their semifinal clash.

It was the first-ever time the 35-year-old missed a spot-kick in the colours of the Italian League champions, but his mistake didn't haunt his team at the end of the meeting.

This came moments before Ante Rebic was sent off in the 17th minute for a reckless challenge on Brazilian defender Danilo.

It would be recalled that the two teams could not be separated in the first leg of the encounter with Ronaldo scoring a late minute goal at San Siro to cancel out Rebic's early strike.

However, the away goal proved highly valuable on Friday night for the Turin based club as it was all they needed to secure a passage to the final of the competition.

In his reaction to Ronaldo’s penalty miss, Bonucci stated that greatest players also miss penalties and that Ronaldo will be back.
