Lamine Yamal’s Father Delivers Brutal Rant as Dembele Beats His Son to Ballon d’Or

Lamine Yamal's father has expressed utter disappointment that his son did not win the 2025 Ballon d'Or on Monday night, September 22.

Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele was crowned the world's best player at the prestigious ceremony inside the Chatelet du Theatre in Paris.

After an incredible 12 months at the top, the Frenchman was handed the coveted award, as Yamal had to settle for the second position.

PSG midfielder Vitinha was third in the final standings, and then Liverpool star Mohamed Salah finished in fourth position, Metro reports.

Bookmakers had tipped Dembele to win the gong, but some fans and pundits had made a case for Yamal to win it.

In his second full season in senior football, an 18-year-old Yamal scored 18 goals and registered 25 assists for Barcelona in all competitions.

With the Catalan giants, he won the La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey, putting him in contention for the Ballon d'Or.

After Dembele was announced as the winner, Yamal, who finished eighth during the awards in 2024, shared a warm embrace with the Frenchman.

However, his dad could not hold his temper immediately after the award did not go his son's way when the results were announced.

A leaked report claimed no fewer than 20 family members would accompany the playmaker to the venue of the awards, but they left disappointed.

Yamal's dad, Mounir Nasraoui, maintained that his son deserved the award, claiming Yamal is better, by far. He told Spanish TV show El Chiringuito per SunSport:

"He’s (Yamal) the greatest, I’m not going to say theft, but rather moral damage to a human being.
"Lamine Yamal is the best player in the world by far.It’s not just because he’s my son, but because he’s the best player in the world,’ he added.
"Lamine is Lamine… we have to say that something strange has happened here. Next year it’s ours. Next year the Ballon d’Or will be Spanish."
