Zimbabwe Bans 9 Goods From Being Exported or Imported into the Country, Releases List

Zimbabwe has released a comprehensive list of nine categories of goods that are absolutely prohibited from being imported into or exported out of the country.

The Zimbabwean government classified these items as goods whose movement across the country's borders is forbidden under any circumstances.

Goods banned from import and export in Zimbabwe

The prohibited goods span a wide range of categories, from morality-related items to public health concerns. adult materials top the list, alongside flick knives and lockable blades. Skin-lightening creams containing hydroquinone or mercury are also included, reflecting growing health concerns around the use of such products across the region.

Counterfeit, base, or forged coins and currency are barred from crossing Zimbabwe's borders, as are prison-made and penitentiary-made goods. The list also targets spirituous beverages that contain preparations, extracts, essences, or chemical products considered noxious or injurious to human health.

Rounding out the nine categories are any goods deemed indecent, obscene, or objectionable; any goods considered likely to deprave the morals of the country's inhabitants; and any goods whose importation is expressly prohibited by or under the authority of any piece of legislation.

According to the government's official statement, the complete list of absolutely prohibited goods is as follows:

1. Adult materials

2. Flick knives and lockable blades

3. Skin-lightening creams containing hydroquinone and mercury

4. Base, counterfeit, or forged coins or currency

5. Prison-made and penitentiary-made goods

6. Spirituous beverages containing preparations, extracts, essences, or chemical products that are noxious or injurious

Nigeria releases list of prohibited goods

Meanwhile, Legit.ng recently reported that the Federal Government has released a list of goods prohibited from being imported into Nigeria in 2026.

The restrictions cover food items, medicines, household products, industrial materials, footwear, bags, and other goods.
