Mother Describes How Doctor Reacted After Scan Shows She Would Give Birth to 5 Babies at Once

A mother of five has described the feeling she had the day she went for an ultrasound scan and found out she was going to give birth to multiple babies at once.

The woman who got married to her husband at the age of 18 had tried for two years to get pregnant but was not successful.

According to Hannah Merton, doctors would later diagnose her with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Hannah was placed on medication to help her get pregnant. She later got pregnant, but unknown to her, she was carrying multiple babies in her womb.

She found out she was expecting quintuplets through an ultrasound and even her doctor was shocked.

The mother said her doctor's face changed after she realised that there were more than one child in her womb.

Hannah said, per PEOPLE:

“Her face just went completely white. She had to pull a stool out from behind her, she sits down, and she reaches over and touches my arm and says, ‘I think I see four or five. I’m like, ‘Four or five what? What are you talking about? Ain’t no way you’re talking about four or five babies. I couldn’t even wrap my mind around it.”

Her pregnancy came with some complications, but Hannah said she and her husband put their trust in God.

She noted:

“We had to put our trust in God. We wanted to move forward with the pregnancy. We wanted to have all five of them.”

When the pregnancy reached 23 weeks, she started having contractions, but doctors were able to handle it, and she was sent back home.

However, a week later, the contractions returned and doctors told her there was nothing else they could do to stop her from giving birth to the five babies prematurely.

She said the day she gave birth was insane, as there were 100 people attending to her in the delivery room.

She said:

“I think there were 100 people. It was insane.”

One of the babies later died, leaving her with four. The remaining four spent several months in intensive care before they were taken home.

The mother said:

“We couldn’t really mourn properly. As much as we wanted to just go home and not get out of bed for a week, we didn’t have a choice. We had to show up at the hospital every day for our other kids.”

Hannah has since welcomed another baby after her quintuplets and has become an influencer with over 60000 followers on TikTok.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a Nigerian man and his wife celebrated after their latest addition as they welcomed quadruplets.

The man revealed that the scan showed them triplets, but a fourth baby was born when they got to the theatre.

He mentioned how the babies’ birth affected his family, as many took to the comment section to congratulate them.
