Prince Laja Adeoye, a leading Peoples Democratic Party aspirant for the 2027 Lagos governorship race, has met with the Forum of Lagos PDP Local Government Chairmen to outline his leadership vision and build party consensus.

The engagement brought together chairmen from all 20 local government areas, reflecting an early effort to consolidate grassroots support ahead of the primaries.

The forum was led by its Chairman, Wasiu Aderounmu Adeyemi, who conveyed appreciation for what members described as a timely emergence of a capable aspirant.

In a statement made available to Legit.ng, the chairmen said Lagos residents were seeking renewed direction and credible leadership, adding that the meeting offered reassurance about the party’s readiness for 2027.

PDP leaders affirm party unity

During the session, the forum passed a vote of confidence in Seyi Makinde, citing development outcomes in Oyo State as evidence of people focused governance. Members expressed confidence that similar outcomes could be achieved in Lagos under a leadership that prioritises transparency, accountability and inclusive growth.

They also commended Olabode George for sustained efforts to strengthen the party’s structure in the state.

The chairmen reaffirmed their resolve to mobilise support across wards and councils to secure victories for the PDP in all elective offices.

They said the party remained united and prepared to field candidates capable of earning broad public confidence. Adeyemi stated that the forum would work toward the emergence of Adeoye as the party’s flag bearer while collaborating closely with the state leadership led by Amos Fawole.

Adeoye outlines Lagos transformation agenda

Responding, Adeoye pledged close cooperation with party organs to deliver effective governance. He presented a policy framework centred on education reform through infrastructure upgrades, vocational training and digital learning.

He also prioritised accessible healthcare, improved security through community based policing and technology, and a large scale affordable housing programme driven by public private partnerships and sustainable urban planning.

On the economy, Adeoye proposed diversification through entrepreneurship, technology hubs, support for small businesses, tourism, agriculture and industrial clusters.

He added commitments to modern transport systems, environmental sustainability, local government autonomy and civil service reforms. Adeoye said the agenda was designed to promote inclusive prosperity and restore public trust in governance across Lagos State.

2027: Adeoye steps forward for Lagos governorship

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that two members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) have signalled interest in contesting governorship seats in the Southwest ahead of the 2027 elections.

Adelaja Adeoye is positioning himself for the Lagos State race while Segun Showunmi has declared his intention to run for governor in neighbouring Ogun State.
