Prepaid Metre Prices Slashed for Ikeja Electric Customers as Nigerian Firm Offers Free Installation

A leading Asset Metre Provider (MAP), New Hampshire Capital, is offering reduced prepaid meter prices for Ikeja Electric customers.

The company disclosed in a statement that the new price for its single-phase metre is N124,000 and its three-phase metre is N215,000.

Prepaid metre: New price includes installation

The firm also revealed that the new prices include metre installation costs, ensuring transparency and affordability for consumers.

“The new prices are valid from August 6 to October 6, 2025,” the company stated.

According to a Punch report, the chief operating officer of New Hampshire Capital, Oluwakemi Omirin, said the company aims to empower consumers with the tools they need to manage their electricity use effectively.

She disclosed that by offering these metres, the firm is taking a significant step towards addressing the yawning metering gap in Nigeria.

New metre prices are under MAP scheme

The statement also said the firm has been a metering partner with the DisCo and has so far funded and installed more than 190,000 prepaid metres under the MAP initiative.

The New Hampshire Capital’s COO said that the firm’s prepaid meters are durable and accurately provide customers with a transparent and dependable way to monitor electricity consumption.

She asked Ikeja Electric customers to visit the DisCo’s website and follow the steps to apply.

“The company’s commitment to quality extends to its installation process, with a team of skilled installers and field engineers ensuring prompt and correct meter deployment.
“Customers also benefit from post-installation support and maintenance services, further solidifying New Hampshire Capital’s reputation as a reliable and customer-centric service provider.”

New Hampshire’s providers offer cheaper rates

Checks by Legit.ng show that the current price by the company is cheaper than the one offered by Disco.

A previous report shows that Ikeja Electric sells its single-phase metre for N133,000 and its three-phase meter for N219,000, respectively.

These changes were published on the company’s official X account on Friday, August 8, 2025.

According to the updated list, the price of a single-phase metre has dropped by N1,259, from N140,240.91 in January 2025 to N138,982.34 in August 2025, a reduction of 0.9%.

Ikeja Electric releases own prices

For three-phase metres, the new average price is N233,554.20, a decrease of N3,431 from N236,985.66, or a 1.45% drop over the same period.

Ikeja Electric said the changes align with the approved rates under its Metre Asset Provider (MAP) scheme and are intended to ensure customers can purchase metres at the most up-to-date and approved rates under the MAP scheme.

FBN Holdings moves to take over Ikeja Electric

Legit.ng earlier reported that FBN Holdings, via its subsidiary FBNQuest Trustees Limited, initiated steps to take control of three critical electricity firms: Egbin Power Plc, Ikeja Electric Plc, and First Independent Power Limited (FIPL).

The move, sanctioned by a Federal High Court, involved the appointment of Kunle Ogunba & Associates as Receiver/Manager for KEPCO Energy Resources Limited, a special purpose vehicle linked to Sahara Energy Resources Group, the owners of the power firms.

KEPCO controls 70% of Egbin Power, Nigeria’s largest power generation company.
