5. Consciousness and capacity to play opposition politics in the country.

The governorship election in Bayelsa holds in November according to the timetable recently released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Nation reports that Governor Dickson spoke in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa state where he said these qualities were needed for his successor to protect the interest of the state and the Ijaw nation.

According to him, the stakes at the governorship election are too high to be left in the hands of one who is not courageous or a person who only plays establishment politics and shy away from the realities on ground.

The governor urged religious leaders in the state to organize prayer sessions for his successor since it was important to commit the selection of the next governor to God.

Dickson promised to embark on extensive consultations with major stakeholders of the state as well as former President Goodluck Jonathan for peaceful and hitch-free primaries designed to produce the party’s flag bearer.

“I wish to also mention on this important issue of the next person to govern the state. I have directed our religious team to come up with a date when we will formally gather to fast and pray in seeking the face of God concerning the person who will take over from me as governor of the state.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the immediate past minister of state for agriculture and rural development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, recently showed interest in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa state.

Lokpobiri who is an All Progressives Congress (APC) member earlier said that he has informed President Muhammadu Buhari that he would not to return to his cabinet as minister.
