- Social media users joined him as they celebrated his feat
It is double celebration for a young man as he recently graduated from the university and got a job as he finished school.
The man identified as Shiv Thakur, in a LinkedIn post, said he had entered the United States - courtesy of a visa lottery he won - at the young age of 19 alone.
The Nepalese added that he had worked at a gas station for a year before he met the Vice President of a secondary school who helped him register English as a second language.
He would go on to ace his secondary school exams while combining it with two full-time jobs and went on to win a scholarship to further his education.
His post read in part:
"I came to the U.S. from Nepal by myself at 19 years old on a Diversity Lottery Visa. Worked at a gas station, for almost a year, where I met the Vice President of Bristol Community College who helped me to register for English as a Second Language.
"Within a year, I completed 12 ESL courses at Bristol Community College working two full-time jobs. After getting my Associate Degree from Bristol Community College, I transferred to Northeastern University where I got a full-ride scholarship to complete my education.
"As a first-generation college student in my family, I am thrilled to share that today, I have graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Entrepreneurship and a Master of Science in Engineering Management.

"I would like to thank my parents, relatives, faculty, staff, coop supervisors, and friends who have helped me on this journey. Without them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Additionally, I am really excited to start my full-time job as a Project Engineer at Sequence Inc."
Social media users took to the comment section to hail his perseverance and hardwork as they congratulated him.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported a young man had celebrated graduating from university at his father's grave side.
Having achieved a worthwhile milestone, he found it prudent to celebrate with the man who sired him, even though he is no longer alive.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, Mwansa was all emotional as he wrote a wonderful piece in honour of his late father. He continued:
