Usman Aminu Yizo, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Rimba/Ebagi councillorship by-election in the Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been declared the winner.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Yizo as the winner on Sunday, April 25.
The election was conducted on Saturday, April 24, according to a statement posted by INEC on its Twitter page.
Legit.ng gathers that Yizo garnered 964 votes to defeat his closest rival in the poll, Usman Hassan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got a total of 66 votes.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state on Thursday, April 22, declared its readiness to recall a member of the House of Assembly representing Brass Constituency 1, Daniel Charles.
The party said it was taking the decision over the lawmaker's defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The APC, through the chairman in Brass local government area, Baribote Solomon, described the defection as an act of desperation and selfishness.
This was stated by the acting national chairman of the party, Mai Mala Buni on Tuesday, April 20 in Abuja.
Buni, who is also the Yobe state governor, made the comments at the maiden edition of the media interactive session of the APC Professional Forum. The APC caretaker chairman was represented at the event by the secretary of the caretaker committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe.
