Social media was recently set abuzz with anticipation as millions of fans awaited the performance of international music divas Jennifer Lynn Lopez and Shakira at the Super Bowl half time show.

As expected, fans were not let down as their expectation was surpassed by the epic performance which was put up by the talented and hardworking music superstars.

However, new reports making the rounds online suggest that despite the amazing show by the artists, they would not be getting paid by the organizers.

According to popular business publication, Forbes, it is quite normal that music stars would not get paid for their performance at the Super Bowl.

However, while the NFL does not offer payment to its Super Bowl half time performers, the artists are expected to receive what is described as a 'union scale', which is usually much lesser than what they earn on a daily basis.

The report also noted that while the NFL does not pay the artists, it does take up the responsibility of paying for such things as the production costs which includes lighting, stages and outfits. It is gathered that the production costs often run into several millions of dollars.

Well, while the singers may not be getting monetary reward for their epic performances, the Super Bowl does offer rewards in the sense of giving them the honour to join the lists of music legends that have graced the stage and shared their music with millions of viewers across the world.

In addition to this, it is expected that their popularity would grow after the performance and in turn influence their earnings on digital music streaming platforms. For instance, Spotify reports that after the half time show, J Lo’s numbers went up by 335 per cent while Shakira got a 230 per cent kick.
