Football Star in Coma After Car Crash Claims Life of Pregnant Wife and Unborn Child

A football star is currently in a critical condition after a car crash that claimed the lives of his wife and unborn child.

The sad incident occurred around 4 pm on Saturday, July 26, in Poland when a BMW ran into the rear of Kevin Garcia's Fiat Seicento.

The collision propelled the UKS Czulowianka Tychy player's car into another vehicle in front of him, leaving it completely wrecked.

Kevin Garcia's wife, Patycja Niedziela, suffered a cardiac arrest caused by the injuries sustained in a collision with the vehicle.

According to Daily Star, the paramedics performed an emergency C-section in a bid to rescue the baby when Niedziela was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the C-section, the baby was rushed to a hospital located around Katowice, Poland, but did not survive.

Kevin Garcia is critically injured and remains in a coma, fighting for his life in the hospital.

The UKS Czluowianka Tychy player is suffering from multiple brain hematomas, a fractured pelvis, and damaged kidneys.

According to an online fundraiser, the football player requires intensive rehabilitation and special care. The campaign stated:

"Kevin is currently in a coma after the car crash. The doctors are doing everything possible to wake him soon. The journey to recovery is going to be painful, both physically and emotionally.
"He will require intensive rehabilitation, specialised care, and psychological support to help him cope with a new and heartbreaking reality."

Kevin Garcia and Patycja Niedziela met before the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland through a mutual friend who was teaching her Spanish. Three years later, both lovers finally got married.

According to NeedToKnow, the football player arrived in Poland to take part in a language course, which led to a scholarship and the opportunity to study at the University of Silesia's Faculty of Natural Sciences. Garcia hails from Mexico City in Mexico.

Maciej Gramatyka, who is Tychy's mayor, said the couple had big dreams and had always spoken about their plans to build a future together. He said:

"I had the opportunity to meet the couple a few months ago. Patrycja and Kevin were young, smiling, and loving people.
"I met them on their wedding day, and they shared the plans they had together and the future they hoped to build."
