Bauchi, Bauchi state - Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi, has sacked Zainab Baban-Takko, the state’s commissioner for women affairs and child development.
According to The Punch, the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor is with immediate effect.

Bala Mohammed sacks commissioner
The newspaper said Mukhtar Gidado, the special adviser, media and publicity to the governor, disclosed this in a statement early Monday, September 29.
TVC News also noted the update.
According to him, the decision was a result of a minor change by the governor to the composition of the state executive council (SEC).
The statement said:
“In that respect, the honourable commissioner for women affairs and child development, Hajiya Zainab-Baban Takko, has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect.
“The governor thanks the honourable commissioner for her services to the State and wishes her success in her future endeavours."
Bauchi commission dismisses civil servants
Recently, two civil servants were dismissed from service by the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) 'in its continued efforts to sanitise the system and instil discipline in the civil service'.
The officers dismissed are Yusuf Adamu Ningi, an administrative officer and Suleiman Ahmed (Ahuta), a principal executive officer 1, who were found guilty of forgery, an offence that contravened state public service rule 0327, (ii, iii and vi).
The dismissal was considered and formalised during the commission’s 35th plenary session held on Tuesday, September 23, at its conference Hall.
Baban-Takko celebrates Bauchi first lady
Meanwhile, Baban-Takko celebrated the first lady of Bauchi state, Aisha Bala Mohammed, after the governor's wife was conferred with the Peace Ambassador Honorary Award in Abuja.

Baban-Takko wrote on her known X handle on Saturday, September 27:
"Yesterday (Friday, September 26), we joined in celebrating the appointment of Her Excellency, the First Lady of Bauchi state, Hajiya (Dr.) Aisha Bala Mohammed, as the Peace Ambassador of Nigeria.
"It was a truly memorable occasion that highlighted her unwavering dedication to peace building, women empowerment, and the upliftment of vulnerable groups.
"We remain proud to stand by her vision of a more peaceful, united, and inclusive society.
"Once again, congratulations, Your Excellencey."

Bauchi appoints Chinese as economic adviser
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Mohammed announced the appointment of a Chinese national, Li Zhensheng, as his economic adviser.
The governor announced the development while signing the memorandum of understanding with the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi.
Mohammed explained that the move was to position the state as a rising hub of international cooperation and accelerate investment, infrastructure development and bilateral collaborations across sectors in the long-term partnership.
