Anambra Decides 2021: Live Updates as Results Trickle In from Polling Units

The voting process is still ongoing in many polling units. It's however, expected that the counting of votes will begin in some polling units soon.

Ndi Anambra are turning out to exercise their duties and it's important that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ensure their votes count.

Ahead of the vote counting, here are the major candidates to look out for:

Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has secured the highest votes in Aguata Local Government Area.

Soludo, Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are all from Aguata.

Professor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won six local government areas in the ongoing governorship election.

The local governments are Awka South, Onitsha South and Enugu Anambra East, Anaocha, Anambra East and Njikoka.

INEC extends voting time

Meanwhile, it appears results may take some time before trickling in.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra says voting will be extended to 4pm due to the malfunction of the BVAS in several polling units across the state

The REC, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, is currently briefing the media at the INEC state headquarters in Awka

He says there is also a possibility of the election continuing tomorrow.

He admitted that the BVAS did not work in several polling units across the state, therefore, slowing down the accreditation and voting process.
