Public Holiday: IOM Nigeria Closes Abuja, Lagos, Benin City Health Centres on August 25

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Nigeria has announced that its Migration Health Assessment Centres (MHAC) in Abuja, Lagos, and Benin City will be shut on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, to mark the Eid el-Maulud public holiday.

The announcement was made by IOM Nigeria via its official X account, informing migrants and stakeholders to plan around the temporary closure.
All three centres will return to full service on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, according to the organisation.
IOM Nigeria Centres Affected by Closure
The closure covers every MHAC location currently operating in Nigeria. The Abuja, Lagos, and Benin City centres are the primary facilities through which IOM conducts medical screenings and health assessments for migrants applying to travel or resettle abroad.
IOM Nigeria used the announcement to extend warm wishes to all those observing the holiday, describing the occasion as an opportunity for "a blessed and peaceful celebration."
Persons with scheduled appointments at any of the three centres on August 25 are advised to contact IOM Nigeria directly to make alternative arrangements ahead of the holiday.
