Ibadan, Oyo state - Tens of thousands of well-wishers gathered for Oba Senator Rasheed Ladoja coronation, which sees him formally take up his role as the new Olubadan of Ibadan.

Legit.ng reports that Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, is in a festive mood, as President Bola Tinubu and other dignitaries prepare to attend the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Ladoja.

Ladoja crowned as new Olubadan

Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the former governor of Oyo state, has finally been crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. He ascended the throne at the Ose Meji Temple in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of the state.

The former governor had earlier received the traditional Akoko leaf at the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan. Governor Seyi Makinde is expected to present the staff and instruments of office to the new monarch at the historic Mapo Hall.

Presidency finally speaks on Ladoja's corronation

Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu, has said that the state is set for the coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

It has earlier been reported that President Tinubu will be attending the coronation.

Advanced presidential flight lands in Ibadan

The Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan, on Wednesday, September 24, received its first aircraft since being closed down in March 2025 for upgrade to international standards.

The aircraft, which is an advanced member of the presidential flight scheduled for Friday, September 26, arrived at the airport at exactly 9:14 am.

President Tinubu is expected in Ibadan for the new Olubadan's coronation.

Oyo restricts traffic for Ladoja’s coronation

The Oyo state government will close major routes around Ibadan’s Mapo Hall from 7:00 am Friday, September 26, to secure the coronation of Oba Ladoja.

The organising committee, inaugurated by the state government to oversee the coronation, announced the development.

The affected routes included Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall; Born Photo Junction inwards Oja’ba; Idi-Arere Junction inwards Oja’ba, and Itamerin Junction inwards Mapo Hall.
