IBB Engages Orji Kalu In A Closed-Door Meeting

A former military president, General Ibrahim  Badamasi Babangida, yesterday held a closed-door meeting with former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu.

Speaking to journalist after the meeting which lasted for about 2 hours, Kalu said he and IBB were having a heart-to-heart discussion on national issues and the future of Nigeria.

He said their discussion bordered on the insecurity in the country and how to put a stop to it.

This is my home and I am always here. I always come to seek advice and have a talk with Babangida on issues that matter a lot. I came here to discuss the level of insecurity in our country. It is a thing of national concern to all of us,” Kalu said.

Kalu, who said he could not divulge all they discussed, explained that Babangida will relay their discussions to the president, ministers, security agencies and others.

Kalu countered insinuations that the killings in the North-East were targeted at the Igbos, saying the attacks should be viewed as an attack on all rather than on any group of people.

Kalu explained, “The killings are not about the Igbos. Remember I told you people when it started. It started with the Igbos, after that, Christians became the target. Now they are after Muslims. Now they are after everybody. It is no longer about Igbos, Christians or Muslims. We are all involved”.

The former governor had earlier paid a visit to Niger State governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu where he insited that Nigeria needed a two party system.
