- Steven Onwu said President Buhari's appointment of the Yakubu Pam is thoughtful
- Onwu also commended Reverend Pam for hitting the ground run in his new role at the NCPC
A civil rights activist, Steven Onwu, on Friday, May 21, commended President Muhammadu Buhari's thoughtfulness in the appointment of Reverend Yakubu Pam as the executive secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission.
Onwu in a statement seen by Legit.ng said the president was clear in his appointment knowing the purposeful leadership Reverend Pam can bring about within the NCPC.
He said the appointment of Pam and the level of leadership he has invested at the NCPC since his appointment has made tasks that seemed tedious quite simple.
The activist also said having assumed duty in his capacity as the executive secretary of the commission, Reverend Pam has hit the ground running.
Onwu said the cleric has distinguished himself by introducing institutional reforms that placed the Board in good stead towards achieving its strategic mandate.
Describing Pam as one with magic hands, Onwu said the Reverend is a man filled with passion for service to humanity.
"I recall that it was stated in some quarters that Yakubu Pam would reinvigorate the operations of the NCPC within a record time. Even though some quarters expressed reservations, he has proven all those that expressed reservations wrong with his sterling performance at the NCPC."
"Today, the NCPC is a success story. It results from the provision of sound leadership and a commitment to render service when it matters most, with the example of Rev. Yakubu Pam, I dare say that Nigeria can overcome its challenges if those in leadership positions tend to lead with sincerity of heart and purpose."
He added that the clergy falls under the category of silent achievers who rarely speak but have their impact littered all over and in turn, make life more meaningful through the provision of purposeful leadership.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that some Christian youths under the aegis of Young Christians Forum of Nigeria had commended Reverend Pam for his leadership style at the NCPC.
The youth group said the Reverend's leadership style should be emulated by public office holders across ministries and agencies in Nigeria.
According to the group adoption of Pam's lifestyle by Nigerian leaders would bring about much-needed development in the country.
In other news, the NCPC had debunked a claim by Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, that she was awarded an ambassador by the commission.
The commission in a statement had urged the general public to discountenance the claim made by the actress.
