The battle of supremacy between the former governor of the state and minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and some leaders of the APC has polarised the party. This gives the leadership of PDP the opportunity to woo members of the opposition in the state.

The newspaper noted that a former chairman of the party in the state, Chief Davies Ikanya, and a former National Assembly member, Igo Aguma, as well as their supporters would formally join the PDP before the week ends.

Tambari Sydney Gbara, the party's spokesman, said the duo would be received by Governor Nyesom Wike in a ceremony in Port Harcourt on Saturday, May 22.

Below is the list of the new entrants into the PDP in Rivers state:

1. Ikanya Davies ( The pioneer chairman of APC in Rivers)

2. Rt. Hon. Igo Aguma (Former National Assembly member and former acting chairman APC)

3. Chief Ogbogbo Nnamdi (Former APC LGA leader)

4. Hon. Isobo Jack (Former caretaker chairman, APC)

5. Chief Wisdom Wakama (Wizzy Waks)

6. (Former minority leader in the state Assembly)

8. Hon. Alamese Martins-Yellow

9. Hon. Ilamabo Mirilla

10. Hon. Faaye Franklin

Ikanya, who was the pioneer chairman of the APC in the state, led the party between 2013 and 2018.

Rivers APC has, however, been bedevilled by the unresolved internal crises that prevented the party from participating in the 2019 general elections.
