Ambassadorial appointment: I won’t reply PDP, Buratai

- The former COAS, Tukur Buratai has given his reason for maintaining silence towards criticisms from the PDP

- Buratai said he remains mute because he is not a politician and thus cannot reply to the opposition

- The former Nigerian Army boss also stated that his new ambassadorial appointment is an honourable one

Tukur Buratai, the immediate past Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has refused to respond to criticism following his ambassadorial appointment from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buratai has kept mute calls from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a probe on him, Daily Trust reports.

However, in his chat with journalists on Saturday, February 6, the former Nigerian Army chief said he is not a politician, and thus cannot give any reply to the PDP.

Buratai said this after a special gala night organised for him by members of the 29th Regular Course Association of the Nigerian Defense Academy.

His words:

“It’s an honourable retirement and also an honourable appointment. I’m not a politician, so I have no word for the opposition.”

Moreover, Buratai boasted that while in office, he did very well, achieved a lot and set up various structures in the force.

He said:

“I am happy that in July last year, my officers at the Army headquarters compiled a compendium of my achievements.
“In fact, I can’t even remember all the projects that we have executed. Is it in term of infrastructure? Is it in term of capacity building? Is it in terms of training? Since I was appointed, there was never a dull moment in terms of training."

Meanwhile, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, had called on God to put an end to banditry and all forms of violence in Nigeria.
