- Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has been asked to do everything in his power to rid Ondo state of criminal elements
- The call was made to him by President Muhammadu Buhari after the governor visited to brief him of the situation
- Going further, Akeredolu seized the opportunity to set the records straight on the Fulani herdsmen issue
In what will surprise many people, President Muhammad Buhari has backed Governor Rotimi Akeredolu over his fight against killer herdsmen in Ondo state.
Specifically, Buhari asked Akeredolu to flush out all the criminals in his state, especially the forest reserves.
This was disclosed by Donald Ojogo, commissioner of information in Ondo state.
Ojogo said the state governor also used the opportunity to let the president know the true state of things in the state especially on the issue of the quit notice issued to herdsmen in the state.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that amid heated ethnic tension in Ondo and some parts in Oyo state Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, met with President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed doors.
The prominent Yoruba monarch visited Aso Rock on Wednesday, January 26, as part of the peace move towards dousing the tension generated by the recent locals-Fulani herders' confrontation.
Although there is no official release on the purpose of the traditional ruler's visit as at press time, Legit.ng, however, notes that it may be connected with the bedlam in Igangan community which saw the Seriki Fulani chased out by irate youths led by Sunday Igboho.
Legit.ng had also reported that in what will excite many people and annoy others, some sources are claiming that there are plans to make Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, the corps marshal of the South West Security Network, code-named Amotekun.
According to The Cable, some governors don't like the idea but the majority were in support of it.
The reason those who supported the move reportedly gave was based on Igboho's passion for the safety of the Yoruba people.
