Gov Bello congratulates Ganduje, Lalong on Supreme Court verdict

- Governors Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano and Simon Lalong of Plateau secured their positions on Monday, January 20

- The Supreme Court affirmed the election of the duo in its final ruling on the governorship elections in both states

- Their colleague in Kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has congratulated them for their victories in the apex court

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has congratulated his colleagues, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano and Simon Lalong of Plateau for the Supreme Court judgement that upheld their elections on Monday, January 20.

Bello, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Onogwu Muhammed, said the verdict of the five-man panel of justices of the Supreme Court led by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, affirming Ganduje as the validly elected governor of Kano has laid to rest all the legal fireworks that trailed the earlier mandate given to him by the people of the state.

He described the Supreme Court verdict as a victory not only for Ganduje and Kano people but for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bello described Ganduje as one of the strong pillars of the ruling APC, adding that his enormous role in the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the last presidential election could not be overemphasized.

On Lalong's victory, Governor Bello said the fact that the Plateau governor won all his cases right from the tribunal, through to the apex court was a clear manifestation that his mandate remains unshakable.

“With your victory at the Supreme Court, you can now fully settle down to face the business of governance and delivery of more dividends of democracy to the good people of Plateau state.

“I urge the good people of Plateau state to give Governor Lalong the needed support and cooperation to enable him to consolidate on the laudable projects and programmes he has started as well as those he plans to embark upon for the overall good of the people,” the governor said in the statement.

President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier congratulated the duo on their victories at the apex court.

Buhari stated that if the APC had lost Kano and Plateau states in the Supreme Court, it would have been a blow because they are strategic states.
