Rivers election: Live updates of results collation (Day 2)

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, April 2, resumed collation and announcement of the results of the Rivers state elections.

From the collations and results released so far, the PDP has won in areas including Port Harcourt City, Ikwere, Andoni, Eleme, Opobo-Nkoro, and Bonny local government areas.

The party also won in Okirika and Omuma, Tai, Ahoada East, Emoha, Etche and Ogba/Egbema/Onelga local government areas.

Meanwhile, the African Alliance Congress (AAC) won in Akuku-Toru and Oyibo local government areas.

According to the results released, the PDP has so far polled 426,279 votes while the AAC got 129,855 votes.

INEC in the evening of Tuesday, however, halted the collation, saying it would continue with the exercise at 10am today, Wednesday, April 3.

Governor Wike declared winner of Rivers governorship election

Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party has been declared winner of the Rivers state governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the result of the election on Wednesday, April 4.

The incumbent governor scored 886,264 votes to defeat Biokpomabo Awara of the African Action Congress (AAC) who polled 173, 859 votes.

The margin of victory was at 71, 2405 votes while 249, 324 votes were cancelled

Gokana LGA

INEC noted that elections took place in several wards. However, violence broke out at the point of collation resulting in the handover of election materials to security operatives.

Abua/Odua LGA

According to INEC, election was disrupted in the local government due to a rowdy session that resulted in security concern.

The collation process has been adjourned again. To resume in 30 minutes time.

Results from 19 states have been collated so far. The INEC's returning officer announced that the collation will continue in three hours time as results from the remaining local government areas are being awaited.
