Air hostess faults Ibom Air's action

Shortly after the news went viral, it was reported that Comfort was remanded in Kirikiri prison after being charged in court.

As Nigerians analysed the situation, Maristella faulted the airline for how the issue was handled.

On her Instagram page, @mariselle4 stated that the airline didn’t follow the proper procedure.

She said in her post:

“As a professional flight attendant, I have seen many discussions regarding the recent incident involving a female passenger and an Ibom Air crew member. While I do not condone unruly behavior from passengers under any circumstances, I must address what I saw in that video. WHAT WAS THAT???
“We have clear guidelines for handling and restraining unruly passengers yet what I witnessed in this situation was far from standard procedure. If the claim is that the passenger violated safety protocols, then I must point out that the crew’s actions also appeared to contradict those same safety standards.

“One of the most concerning moments was seeing a crew member lift the passenger’s clothing, publicly exposing her in a way that was completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, someone was recording the incident, ensuring that this deeply private moment reached millions of viewers.
“But it doesn’t stop there.The passenger was not only physically mishandled but was also reportedly taken to prison and banned for life from flying . I must ask under what rule or authority was this action taken?
“If this had happened on my airline or any airline abroad , legal consequences would be inevitable and the compensation for such treatment could reach extraordinary amounts. What I saw was not just a breach of procedure; it was a violation of basic human dignity/rights.”

In the video shared on her TikTok page, the lady was seen boarding an Air Ibom flight, showing off her passport, cash, and the interior of the plane during her flight to Ghana.
