Nyesom Wike Wins Rivers PDP Governorship Primaries

Former Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike has emerged the winner of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries in Rivers state.

Wike emerged the PDP governorship candidate on Monday, December 8, in a peaceful primary conducted at Community Secondary School, Nkpolu in Port Harcourt  Local Government Area.

According to AIT report, the former minister, in his acceptance speech said he will wrestle the state back from the opposition party, All Progressives Congress, APC.

Wike polled 1,083 votes, while Dumbari Dimkpa came a distant second with 21 votes.

West Ibinabo got three votes while Emmanuel Georgewill and Lee Maeba got one vote each.

Recall that the leaders and elders of the Rivers state had earlier warned President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of the PDP against selecting Wike as its representative in the forthcoming 2015 gvernorship election in the state.
