Persons said to be loyal to Sunday Igboho on Saturday, May 15, attacked operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) during a Yoruba nation rally in Osun state.
The security officials were said to be maintaining order at the palace of Ataoja of Osogbo, Jimoh Olanipekun, when the thugs attacked them, Premium Times reports.
Sources from the SSS told the online newspaper that Igboho's men manhandled the officers and injured at least two of them.
They disclosed that it took maturity and self-control of the operatives to prevent what could have deteriorated into violent and bloody chaos.
In fact, from a video clip, a security officer was seen guarding his gun while thugs attacked him.
The thugs were reported to have driven away from the scene and urging residents not to vote in the 2023 general elections.
Meanwhile, some unknown gunmen had reportedly attacked the Ibadan residence of Igboho. The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, April 26.
Gunfire was heard in front of Igboho's house located in the Soka area of Ibadan. A spokesperson to the activist, Dapo Salami, told the BBC that the gunmen stormed the residence at 1am. He stated that the attackers were resisted by Igboho's supporters on the premises.
In a video shared by the former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, Igboho and his boys were stopped along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway by the security operatives.
The self-styled Yoruba activist was said to be on "his way to see Baba Ayo Adebanjo", a Yoruba elder and one of the Afenifere leaders in Lagos.
