- Nwakali signed five years contract last summer and never played a match

Nigerian football star and former Manchester City player Chidiebere Nwakali has been sacked by his club Kalmar FF for returning late from 2019 Christmas break.

The former Nigerian youth international was in his country last December to celebrate Christmas and refused to return to Sweden after the end of the yuletide period.

He was reported to have had a row with the management of the club over money for his flight ticket back to Sweden which the side refused to roll out.

This made the 23-year-old to miss the club's pre season training and only returned to Sweden last week.

Kalmar FF chiefs were furious with the Nigerian football star for his decision to resume late and they had to fire him.

Last summer, Chidiebere Nwakali signed a five-year deal with Swedish side Kalmar FF before the club terminated his contract over what they called lack of discipline.

Kalmar FF sports manager Jorgen Petersson made it clear that the club had no choice than to do what they did since Chidiebere refused to return on time.

”We follow the the usual working days and when you do not follow the work, we did what we should do and won’t comment any further.

''Through his behavior he has violated parts of his contract which is not okay. He did come for pre season. It was such a gross breach of contract and there are no places to sell him”, he said.

This latest development will be a great disappointment for Chidiebere Nwakali considering the fact that he has not played any game for Kalmar FF.
