A member of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Olusegun Olaleye who is representing Ibadan North II state constituency in the legislative house, on Thursday, July 26 defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Punch reports that Olaleye who said he left the APC because the ideals of the party had been eroded adding that his decision was not triggered by the exodus of federal lawmakers from the APC to the PDP on Tuesday, July 25.
The lawmaker noted that he had earlier made a consultation with people before arriving at his decision.
According to him, “I went astray in the APC but I am back to the party that will form the next government in the state.
“The PDP is a moving train which boasted of huge followers and good leaders like former governor Rashidi Ladoja, Sarafadeen Alli and Senator Femi Lanlehin.
“I urge all Nigerians who love democracy to go and get their Permanent Voter Cards so as to determine who rules them. They should be fully involved in the democratic process come 2019.”
In his remarks, the party chairman in the council, Adelore, said the PDP had reorganised its house in the state and was ready to record huge victory in the 2019 elections.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a House of Representatives member representing Kagarko/Kachia Federal Constituency, Jagaba Adams Jagaba defected to the PDP from the APC.
The ceremony took place on Monday, May 7 in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna state. 4,556 other members joined the lawmaker in defecting to the PDP.
Shittu Senator Ahmed Makarfi, a former PDP chairman who was at the event described it as significant and urged the new members to join hands to help achieve the party’s objective.
