Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino has branded Manchester City handler, Pep Guardiola, as the best manager in the world.

The two coaches go head-to-head in the UEFA Champions League semifinals this week with the French League side staging the first leg, while City host PSG in the second a week after.

Having clashed at the quarterfinals of the same competition in 2019, the Argentine progressed to the last four on away goals rule despite playing a 4-4 draw after both legs. Spurs went all the way to the final but lost to Liverpool in the end.

However, both managers are not new to themselves as they have faced each other as players and later as managers of their respective clubs.

And despite Pochettino sending Guardiola out of the UCL two years ago, the former Spurs handler says he still looks up to the Spaniard who at the moment is the best in the game as reported by Sky Sports.

"For me, he is the best. I admire him and think he is doing a fantastic job. He is an amazing coach, always thinking of different strategies and game plans.
" I love to challenge him and the teams he prepared. Not only the best manager. The club is important, too. A club that trusts you to build a team and provides you with all the tools."

Pochettino believes his side's defeat to Bayern Munich in the final last season will motivate them this time and win the title. Poch said:

"We now have the experience but we need to go step by step. Now, we have to beat Manchester City and it is going to be really, really tough."

The first leg of the semi-final will be played in Paris, with the return leg in Manchester on May 4 while the grand finale is scheduled for Istanbul on May 29.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has backed Paris Saint-Germain to win the Champions League title this season.

Should the French giants go all the way and lift the European trophy, it would be the first time in their history to do that.

However, they will have to contend with a two-legged semi-final fixture with Man City on their way to the finals where they will face the winner between Chelsea and Real Madrid.
