Chants of "Victor Osimhen" reverberated through the walls of the Diego Amando Madarona Stadium after the Nigerian scored Napoli’s lone goal in their 1-0 win over Torino, Outlook reports.

Having toiled for 80 minutes, the Super Eagles forward jumped over the defenders to break the deadlock in the 81st minute as Luciano Spalletti's men stretch their Serie A winning run to eight games.

After the goal, stadium announcer and radio personality Daniele Decibel Bellini repeated Victor Osimhen’s name as the fans echoed in return.

Osimhen is gradually becoming a cult-hero in Naples where legendary Diego Maradona emerged as the club’s all-time best player.

Some fans are already tipping the Nigerian lad to become famous at the club as they believe he will go on to win them titles.

Osimhen becomes Africa’s most valuable player

His performances have now seen his value rise to about €10 million on the transfer market lately.

The 22-year-old former Lille attacker has now equalled his Wilfred Ndidi's €60 million market valuation according to latest report on Transfermarkt.

Osimhen according to the stats website is the third most valuable player in the Italian League while he ranks 49th most valuable player overall.

The Super Eagles forward is now Nigeria’s joint most valuable player and the second most valuable striker in the Italian league.

Just two years ago, the Ultimate Strikers Academy product joined Sporting Charleroi in a deal around €3.5m but joined his current club in a club record signing in the summer of 2020.

Luca Toni likens Osimhen with Shevchenko

Legit.ng earlier reported that former Italian striker Luca Toni has likened Nigerian international Victor Osimen to Ukrainian great Andriy Shevchenko, saying the Nigerian youngster has improved.

Toni who scored over 300 career goals during his playing days stated that Osimhen is capable of scoring at least 25 Serie A goals this season.

Toni has now stated that he believes Osimhen is capable of doubling that tally under new Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti who is more demanding.
