Summary of the game

The Merseysiders were looking to get their season back on track after settling for a disappointing 1-1 draw against rivals Chelsea last weekend.

Leeds, on the other hand, were desperate to secure their first win of the new season having initially lost once and drawn twice.

However, it was the visitors who reigned supreme, with Mohamed Salah scoring his 97th Premier League goal to help his side cart home all three points.

The clash started on a pulsating note, with the home side squandering an early chance that should have put them ahead.

Salah went on break the deadlock in the 20th minute, tapping in from five yards after being set up by Alexander-Arnold.

Sadio Mane had two brilliant chances to double his side's lead but missed both last the first half finished 1-0.

Fabinho made it 2-0 for the visitors just four minutes after the restart, pouncing on the bouncing ball to poke into the net from another Alexander-Arnold delivery.

Stuart Dallas, who came on as a substitute had a chance to pull one back for Leeds in the 54th but his header was calmly collected by Alisson Becker.

Soon after, the hosts were reduced to 10 men after Pascal Struijk was sent off for a rash challenge on Harvey Elliot who had to be stretchered off.

Liverpool managed to take full advantage of Leeds' numerical deficiency, making it 3-0 via Mane at the death to storm to victory.

The win saw them climb to third on the charts with 10 points, on level with leaders Man United and second-placed Chelsea.

Salah asks Liverpool for payrise

For now, the Egypt international is having two years remaining on his current contract at Anfield and the club's eggheads have been asking him to sign a new deal.
