Nigeria Football Federation chiefs are reportedly trying to convince Bournemouth star Arnaut Danjuma to play for the country at the senior level.

The 24-year-old, born to a Nigerian mother and Dutch father is eligible to play for either country but it is left to be seen where he will commit his future.

Danjuma moved to the Netherlands at the age of four and later joined PSV’s academy after born in Lagos in 1997.

The forward has made just two appearances for the Dutch national team in 2018 against Germany in the Nations League and a friendly versus Belgium in which he scored.

However, the rule change approved by FIFA in September allows players to switch countries if they have played no more than three competitive games.

This means that Danjuma can still choose to play for the Super Eagles despite his Nations League appearance as reported by SunSport.

Bournemouth signed the attacker in 2019 in a deal valued at around £13.7 million and has found the back of the net in the Championship seven times this campaign.

His most recent goal came in the Cherries 1-0 triumph over Watford at the Vitality Stadium after scoring the only goal of the game on the hour mark.

Danjuma and Co currently sit sixth in the Championship standings, as they aim to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu has continued his blistering form in Europe after he found the back of the net in Genk’s 2-1 victory over Sporting Charleroi in Friday’s Belgian First Division A game.

The Nigerian international has been in sparkling form so far this season and has now scored 25 league goals in 26 matches this season.

He inspired John van den Brom’s side to return to winning ways after they had lost to Beerschot and KV Oostende earlier.
