High flying Paris Saint-Germain handed Barcelona a 4-1 defeat right at the Camp Nou as the UEFA Champions League action returns on Tuesday night, February 16.

The French side took a giant lead as the prestigious competition returns, ahead of the reverse fixture scheduled for a forthnight.

It was Barcelona who took the lead in the 25th minute of the encounter following a well-taken penalty kick by captain Lionel Messi.

De Jong had chased a long ball into the area and had his heels clipped before the centre referee pointed the spot.

Messi slotted home cooly when he rifled into the top-right corner to give his side a well-deserved lead.

But it didn't take long before PSG drew level courtesy a Kylian Mbappe strike from close range.

Verratti flicked the ball towards the striker who showed great finesse to take Lenglet out of the game with a killer-touch before blasting high past ter Stegen from close range. 1-1.

Mbappe grabbed his second goal of the night when the young World Cup winner pounced on a loose ball after Pique could only get a heel to a Florenzi cut-back.

Ruthless finish to make it 2-1 in favour of the visitors.

Moise Kean extended the lead for the Ligue 1 side in the 69th minute after he ghosted onto a free-kick completely unmarked at the back post - Ter Stegen could only parry into his own net, and Barca are in a world of trouble. 3-1 PSG.

Barcelona did everything possible to get back into the game but it was Mbappe who completed his hat-trick on the night with another curler to make it 4-1 in favour of the visitors; and that was how it ended.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has shifted his focus to Juventus' Champions League trip to FC Porto on Wednesday, February 17.

The first of their two-legged affair will determine how far they will go in their quest to win the UEFA elite competition since 1996.

Andrea Pirlo's men head into the game in Portugal on the back of their 1-0 Serie A defeat to Napoli over the weekend and they can bounce back to winning ways in their mid-week clash.
