United have in recent weeks squeezed their way into the list of teams that could challenge Liverpool for the crown this season.

The Red Devils' 2-1 crucial win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford on new year's eve took their points tally to 33 and now sit joint-top with the Reds on the summit of the table.

And with Man City currently trailing their rivals, Guardiola has come out to admit United fully deserve the place at the top.

“I am pretty sure Ole is happier than me – but I am not concerned too much about United. If United are there it is because they deserve it," Mirror UK quoted the Spaniard saying.
“Before I landed here people said that the real Premier League is where everyone can lose to everyone. I didn’t see it until now," he added.

Guardiola's admission came just hours ahead of City's trip to Stamford Bridge where they are scheduled to take on Chelsea.

The Citizens head into the clash days after a COVID-19 crisis hit their camp, leaving Guardiola without five key players for the tie.

Gabriel Jesus is among the five stars who will play no role in the encounter as the Manchester club look to get their campaign back on track after a stuttering few weeks.

Chelsea, on the other hand will be keen to return to winning ways having gone two matches without a victory.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Frank Lampard has confirmed that some Chelsea staff have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus disease ahead of their Premier League clash with Man City.

The Blues boss also revealed that no player was infested and the much-anticipated clash with Pep Guardiola's side will go on as scheduled.

The west London club will be welcoming the Citizens to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, January 2, as both sides look to move into the top five spots.
