Barcelona put up a five-star show in the La Liga on Saturday, January 9, as the Catalan giants whitewashed Granada right at their backyard 4-0.

Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann produced breathtaking performances in the encounter as they scored a brace each the delight of their manager Ronald Koeman.

It took just 12 minutes into the encounter before the Blaugrana opened the scoring after the ball glimpsed Granada's Roberto Soldado on the way through to the Griezmann as the ball went into the net. 1-0 Barca.

Soldado almost restored parity minutes later after the striker drove a fight footed effort but the ball drifted well wide with Ter Stegen alert to the danger.

It was the attacker again in the 30th minute as he came close, but Ter Stegen once again denied the home side as Puertas broke through. The flag was up though so the strike wouldn't have counted.

Lionel Messi produced a trademark finish with his left foot in the 35th minute to make it 2-0.

And two minutes before half-time, the Argentine completed his brace from a perfect left-footed low drive freekick to stun the hosts; making it 3-0

In the second half, Barcelona looked very composed with no sign that the Granada substitutes altered the pattern of the game with the men in black once again domination possession.

Barcelona made it 4-0 in the 63rd after Frenchman Griezmann bagged his second of the night.

There were not much to be seen from the hosts in the latter stages as that was how it ended. Granada 0-4 Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that reports from Spain have it that Lionel Messi could eventually decide to sign new deal at Barcelona due to the huge performance of summer signing Pedri.

The Barcelona captain whose contract is billed to lapse at the end of the season has been linked with Premier League club Manchester City as well as Ligue 1 outfit PSG.

He almost left the club last summer after he had tendered his transfer request, but was forced to stay back as the club cited a clause in his contract.
