Andre Silva scores wonder goal as Man City suffer heartbreaking defeat in UCL battle

Manchester City who are reigning Premier League champions on Tuesday night, December 6, rounded off their group stage's games in the Champions League on a losing note.

Playing away in Germany against RB Leipzig, Manchester City stars tried all their best not to suffer a defeat, but their opponents were determined to get a win in front of their fans.

The home team started lively against Manchester City as they tried to find loopholes in the early minutes, but they had to wait until the 24th minute before netting through Dominik Szoboszlai.

How did the first half end?

Pep Guardiola and his wards tried all their best to restore parity in the first half, but the German side denied them and took a 1-goal lead to the dressing room.

The two teams came out aggressively in the second half looking for goal, but it was the visitors who scored again in the 71st minute through Andre Silva.

Riyad Mahrez pulled one back for Manchester City in the 76th minute, but it was not enough to save the Premier League champions from a defeat as match ended 2-1.

However, Manchester City finished topping Group A with 12 points after six games played.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola expressed disappointment at critics who claim Lionel Messi should not have been awarded the 2021 Ballon d’Or.

France Football had, on Monday November 29, handed Messi a seventh Ballon d’or award, a decision which has generated lots of controversies among football fans.

But Guardiola who managed Messi during their time at Spanish club Barcelona insisted that no one can say it was unfair that the award went to Messi.

With Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski missing out on the coveted prize last year, many claim the Polish striker should have been handed the award.
