Terry Kennedy, 28, had no choice but to quit the beautiful game because of a stubborn knee injury.

During his playing days, the ex-football star from Barnsley, South Yorkshire played for Sheffield United and Harrogate Town and at some point, was teammates with Harry Maguire.

His knee injury however proved to be too overwhelming and he was forced into retirement in 2016.

Five years on and the retired footballer is in the limelight again after a video of him reacting to news that he had won £1million, which is roughly N600m.

If the video is anything to go by, Terry is nervously holding his lottery ticket as he awaits to learn whether he has won from the operator.

Moments later and the lottery operator asks Terry if he is ready to receive some news and that he should “probably sit down”.

Terry nervously replies “No I don't think I am,” before the operator confirms that indeed, he is a winner of the seven-figure jackpot.

Still, in his work attire, Terry, who was nicknamed the “Ginger John Terry” during his playing days, with Sheffield United, briefly broke down in tears in the video captured by one of his colleagues.

He came through the ranks as a Sheffield United player and made his debut in 2011, before eventually leaving for Alfreton Town in 2016.

Former footballer Hiannick Kamba jailed after faking own death in £1million insurance scam

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a former footballer Hiannick Kamba who once played alongside Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been sentenced by a German court.

Kamba who featured alongside Bayern Munich goalie Manuel Neuer has bagged a jail term for his involvement in an insurance scam involving him faking his own death.

He grew through the ranks at Schalke with Neuer and was featured in a number of matches at youth level before he spent the other years of his career at several lower-league clubs.

It was gathered that Kamba retired in 2016, but reports making the rounds reveal how the 35-year-old was found to have faked his death.

The ex-player, along with his wife, have now been sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison for their involvement in a case which the German media describe as having a number of unanswered questions.

Kamba faked his death in 2016, only to return to Germany alive and well three years later.
