Reactions As Rich Nigerian Footballer and Son of DSS DG Backs Obi Cubana After EFCC Arrest

Nigerians have continued to react after Abba, the son of Nigeria’s DSS director general, Yusuf Bichi, threw his weight of support for socialite Obi Cubana who was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for interrogation.

Popular socialite and entrepreneur, Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has been interrogated by the EFCC for money laundering.

A BBC News Pidgin report stated that an EFCC source noted Obi Cubana was not arrested but invited to the commission's office at Wuse Zone 6 Abuja.

The source said the socialite was invited two weeks ago but showed up at the commission's office at Wuse Zone 6 Abuja on Monday, November 1.

And while still with the commission, Abba, the son of Yusuf Bichi who is the director general of the DSS took to his Instagram handle to brand Obi Cubana as “a man of honour and dignity”.

Vanguard reports that Abba Bichi Jr is a young Nigeria footballer who plays for Yingkou Chagoyue FC in China.

His jersey name, Bichi Jr., took after his hometown, Bichi, a local government in Kano, one of the two most populous states in the country. Formally, he is Abba Yusuf Bichi–and he was born of Messrs Aisha and Yusuf Magaji Bichi.

At the age of 15, he was called up to join his country’s 21-man Golden Eaglets’ squad for the 2018 U17 World Cup in Brazil where they failed to reach the quarterfinal.

Obi Cubana’s wife breaks silence

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Barrister Ebele Iyiegbu, the wife of Nigerian billionaire businessman Obi Cubana, has reacted to her husband's arrest by the EFCC.

Ebele showered her dear husband with encouraging words and assured him that he shall overcome the present obstacle.

She shared a photo of him and declared that he is strong, resilient, a hard worker, a leader, and a great man with a heart of a diamond.
