DanielAmokachi has reiterated that Odion Ighalo's return to the Super Eagles will not in any way hinder the progress of young players in the national team, Complete Sports.

The Al-Shabab striker has been linked with a return to the national team and some fans believe the veteran striker would distract upcoming players in the team.

Gernot Rohr has named the former Nigerian international Super Eagles 40-man provisional list for the Qatar 2022 qualifiers against Cape Verde and Liberia in November.

Nigerian Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick has also confirmed Igahlo would be considered wearing the green and white of Nigeria again after calling it quits in 2019.

What Amokachi said about Ighalo's return

Super Eagles legend Amokachi has also backed the return to the in-form striker who has already scored nine goals in ten appearances in the Saudi Arabian League this season.

“If I admire someone from far and I see that I can play with such a person to be part of my team. Rohr has said he needs Ighalo’s experience and believes that’s what the young players need.
“So for me Ighalo’s return shouldn’t be any distraction to the young players.”

Garba Lawal supports Ighalo's return to the national team

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Garba Lawal has stated that retired Nigerian international Odion Ighalo is still relevant to the Super Eagles, AOI Football.

The 32-year-old who currently plies his trade with Saudi Arabian out Al-Shabab has been in good scoring form for his side in the new season, scoring eight goals in nine matches.

The former Man United striker called it quits after Nigeria came third at the AFCON 2019 tournament and was named the top marksman of the competition with five goals.

And Super Eagles legend Lawal believes Igahlo's presence in the team would also inspire the current crop of young players in Gernot Rohr's side.
