A Group B Champions League clash pitting Atletico Madrid and Liverpool was marked with dramatic scenes at fulltime after Diego Simeone snubbed a handshake with Jurgen Klopp.
The match saw visitors Liverpool emerge victors as they stunned their hosts in a five-goal thriller.
Atletico had initially come from two goals down to draw 2-2 at the break courtesy of Antoine Griezmann's brace who was sent off minutes into the second half.
Mohamed Salah had earlier opened the scoring for the Reds inside eight minutes of action before Navy Keita made it 2-0 five minutes later.
Griezmann pulled one back for the home side in the 20th minute before levelling matters in the 34th minute.
However, the Frenchman was sent off just 12 minutes into the second half, with Liverpool taking advantage of the situation to score the winner via Salah in the 78th minute.
Atletico were left fuming in the closing stages of the tie after VAR denied them a penalty they had earlier been awarded.
However, it was Simeone's extraordinary behaviour during the final whistle that dominated the headlines.
The tactician turned down a handshake from Klopp as is the tradition, opting to sprint down the tunnel.
But speaking on the incident, Simeone defended his decision not to shake hands with his opposite, claiming it is unhealthy.
He, however, was quick to reveal he would do it if the opportunity presented itself.
"I don’t always greet (the other manager) after the game because I don’t like it," Metro UK quoted Simeone saying when asked about the incident.
"It’s not healthy for either the winner or the loser. I think of it that way. But now, when I see him, I’ll greet him without a problem," he added.
