Arsenal manager Frenchman Arsene Wenger has revealed to reporters that he expects Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez signing to be completed by the end of the day.

The Chilean forward has been rumoured to be joining some top clubs across Europe, and everyone thought Liverpool will get him in their sale of Luis Suarez.

With Sanchez keen to abandon Camp Nou, Arsenal put down a better offer than the Merseyside club tried to negotiate.

Reports state Arsenal's bid of €35million [around £28million] was enough for the Catalan club, and the player will sign a four-year contract at the Emirates Stadium.

This deal will increase Arsenal's expenses to £40million in a matter of days, having bought French international full-back Mathieu Debuchy, who admitted he will move from Newcastle this summer.

Arsenal and Barcelona have enjoyed a mutual admiration of each other, having sold to each other numerous players over the decade.

The players who have moved between the clubs include, Hleb, Fabregas, Song, Henry, Silvinho, Van Bronckhurst, Toral, Bellerin.
