The vice-president of Suriname Ronnie Brunswijk was in action in a CONCACAF league game having captained his Inter Moengotapoe side for 54minutes against Olimpia of Honduras.

SPORTbible are reporting that Brunswijk has been a political office holder since 2020 and featured in the CONCACAF match, which is Caribbean's version of the Europa League.

Club owners are believed to be one of the busiest persons, but Brunswijk took time out to play for his side but they lost 6-0.

Reports say the politician completed 14 of his 17 attempted passes during the game.

Famous outlet New York Times profile the 60-year-old as "an elite paratrooper, a soccer player, a wanted bank robber, a guerrilla leader, a gold baron and a father to at least 50 children during his lifetime."

It was gathered that before he became the vice-president of Suriname, Brunswijk who helped the country to democracy was chased away by president Chan Santokhi in the 80s, when Santokhi was a police officer, before joining forces, GOAL reports.

The club owner is however said to be a generous man as he hands out money to the poor, a reputation he maintained while in the changing room after the game.

There's still a second leg to be played a week on Wednesday, but it's unlikely that the 60-year-old will play, perhaps he'll let son Damian be captain next time, with the striker also starting the first leg.
