Rio Ferdinand has tipped Liverpool to secure a top four finish ahead of Chelsea and Leicester.

With Man City well on course to win this season's Premier League title, attention has shifted to the top four race that could go down to the wire.

Up to five teams are currently jostling for the two other remaining slots after Man United all but confirmed a top four finish following their weekend hard-fought win over Brighton.

Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are all in the miss in the fight for a Champions League place with just eight matches left to end the season.

However, Ferdinand has backed the Reds to put up a spirited fight to qualify despite earlier projection they were out of the race.

The Jürgen Klopp-tutored side put their torrid run of results over winter behind them to stage a masterclass against Arsenal over the weekend to secure a 3-0 win at the Emirates.

The win helped them revive their top four hopes, especially considering the Blues had faltered against West Brom earlier on.

The Foxes, meanwhile, also lost ground as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Man City at the King Power Stadium.

However, the do have a seven-point cushion over Spurs m, Liverpool and West Ham who are all level on 49 points.

Be that as it may, Rio contends the Merseysiders stand the best chance to play in the Champions League next season from the pool of more than five teams.

"I think Liverpool are going to get in there now. The result they got at the weekend, the performance and the confidence that will give that team," he told BT Sport.
"Out of Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool and Spurs, the team who could go on a six, seven, eight-game run [of wins], I think Liverpool are that team. I’ve got a sneaky feeling they will," he added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Premier League club Manchester United are still on the trail of Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele as the future of the player at Camp Nou remains uncertain.

The Red Devils who have dropped their pursuit of Jadon Sancho are now focusing on landing Dembele at the Theatre of Dreams.
