German professional footballer Shkodran Mustafi has finally left Premier League side Arsenal for a return to his country joining Schalke 04 on a free transfer from the Emirates stadium.
Since Spaniard Mikel Arteta took over as Arsenal gaffer, Mustafi found it difficult to break into the first team which forced him out of the Premier League side.
The 28-year-old wants to keep his place in the German national senior team and getting active playing time elsewhere will be the panacea for him.
According to the report on UK Sun, the 28-year-old was even linked with a move to join reigning Premier League champions, but the Reds did not go for him.
The report added that Liverpool are however shifting their attention on Preston centre-back Ben Davies and Schalke's Ozan Kabak.
Mustafi will have lots of work to do for Schalke this season in the German Bundesliga as the club are currently at the bottom of the table with eight points after 19 games played.
Mustafi is a vastly experienced defender winning the FA Cup and reaching the Europa League final with Arsenal losing against Chelsea
He was also a part of the Germany squad which won the World Cup back in 2014 which was an incredible achievement.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are currently occupying 10th position on the Premier League table with 31 points after 21 games played so far for the Gunners.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Arsenal legend Kanu Nwankwo praised his former team over their draw with fierce rivals Manchester United on Saturday, January 30.

FootballBoth teams approached the cracker coming with contrasting results as Arsenal defeated Southampton 3-1 while United were stunned 2-1 at Old Trafford by relegation-threatened Sheffield United in their previous fixtures respectively.
It means United are still unable to beat any of their ‘Big Six’ rivals in the English topflight so far this campaign.
For Arsenal, they continue their resurgence after a run of poor results.
Reacting to the stalemate, Kanu stated that both teams played well and stated he is looking forward to Arsenal returning to winning ways in their next fixture.
