Odion Ighalo has been put on the edge after reports claim the Nigerian striker has been told to accept a massive pay cut to earn a permanent Man United deal.

The 30-year-old arrived Old Trafford on deadline day from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

And the former Watford star has proved his six-month loan deal scoring four goals in eight matches so far.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaeer also hinted that the former Nigerian international will be rewarded with a new deal at the Theatre of Dreams when his loan deal expires in the summer.

But according to British news media outlet Daily Star, the Red Devils will not be able to meet up with £300,000 weekly wages.

And it is understood that United want two-thirds of Ighalo's wages cut resulting to £200,000 in reduction.

Ighalo who has been offered a massive £400,00-per-week by his parent club Shanghai Shenhua will have a difficult to make regarding his future.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Odion Ighalo has opened that the legendary Arsenal striker Nwankwo Kanu sent words of encouragement after he joined Man United on loan.

The Nigerian striker joined the Reds Devils on the last day of the January transfer window and has never failed to impress.

But the 30-year-old was heavily criticized from all quarters due to the fact he was playing in a lower league in China.

However, so far, the former Watford striker has scored four goals in eight appearances for United and has proven his worth to club boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
