- Odion Ighalo is in line for a permanent move to Man United from Shanghai Shenhua

- United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted the Nigerian striker would be in his plans next season

- Ighalo scored a superb goal in the Red Devils' 5-0 thrashing of LASK in the round of 16 Europa League tie

Odion Ighalo signed a six-month deal when he joined Man United in the January transfer window without a possible extension, cited on Evening Standard.

But things could take a new twist as United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that the club needs the qualities of the Nigerian striker next season.

The former Watford striker was in superb form when the Red Devils eased past Austrian side LASK by 5-0 in the Europa League last 16 first leg tie.

The 30-year-old had four touches that saw his shot go into the roof net to score his fourth goal in his third start for the Old Trafford outfit.

And Solskjaer hinted in a post-match conference that Ighalo's contract would be given consideration for next season.

“Odion has come in really well and he will improve and get better. But he has qualities we saw in him and needed and we need those qualities for next season.

“He’s a goal-scorer and a striker. He doesn’t worry too much about all that nonsense, build-up play - that’s a joke obviously.

"He knows his job and role in the team, and he’s very good with his back to goal.

"He’s a great link player, but maybe the best thing about him is his personality. He’s got the whole lot really.”

Solskjaer heaped praises on the technique of Ighalo's goal during the game: “He had three touches before and his fourth was the finish.

"All of those touches were high quality, but he had to make them to make it. A great strike on the half-volley, great timing, anyone would be proud of that finish.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Odion Ighalo has been impactful since joining Man United in January from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

The 30-year-old is gradually becoming a cult hero at Old Trafford with three goals from his seven matches so far.

With the help of his teammates, Ighalo has been able to show he is capable of scoring many goals as he can for the Red Devils.

And the former Nigerian international recently posted a message on his Twitter to account to appreciate Juan Mata, a player who has bonded with him at the club on and off the pitch.
