Salah threatens to quit national team after the Russia 2018 World Cup

- Mohamed Salah has reportedly threatened to quit international football after the World Cup

- Salah believes he was being used as a political pawn since his visit to Chenchnya leader, Kadyrov

- Egypt will be playing their last match in Group A against Saudi Arabia on Monday, June, 25

Egypt international Mohamed Salah is considering retiring from the national team when the World Cup reaches its conclusion.

The 25-year-old, who scored 44 goals for Liverpool last season, is set for an early exit from the finals in Russia after the Pharaohs lost their opening two games.

Salah scored a penalty in the second match against Russia, but Hector Cuper's men were beaten both by the hosts and Uruguay.

The Pharaohs take on Saudi Arabia on Monday, June, 25, amid suggestions Salah could pull out of international football.

The Liverpool star player had expressed shock last week that he was thinking about leaving before the final group match against the Middle East nation.

But now Salah and his representatives have expressed dissatisfaction at what they perceive as he was being used as a political pawn by the Egyptian FA.

The former Roma attacker is claimed to be considering his future with international duties, following what has turned into something of a mess at Egypt's training base in Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic.

Salah was pictured walking beside Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov when he was battling to regain fitness and recover from the shoulder injury suffered against Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

The Chechnya leader has been accused of numerous human rights violations, including discriminating against women and persecuting se.xual minorities.

On Friday Kadyrov made Salah an honorary citizen of the Chechen Republic, during a banquet held to say goodbye to the Egypt squad.

Kadyrov posed with Salah and Hany Abo Ride, chairman of Egypt's football federation for pictures.

"Mohamed Salah is an honorary citizen of the Chechen Republic! That's right!" the Chechen leader wrote in a social media post.

"I gave Mohamed Salah a copy of the order and a pin at a celebratory dinner that I gave in honour of the Egyptian team."

Kadyrov gave a short speech and pinned a badge bearing the Chechen flag to the Liverpool forward’s shirt.

Salah was also given a silver plate and a signed jersey from FC Akhmat Grozny, the football club Kadyrov has renamed in honour of his father.

It has been claimed Kadyrov is using Salah to enhance his reach towards potential allies in North Africa and the Middle East.

The Chechnya leader has hit back at such suggestions, telling the BBC: “Everyone has played here, even Maradona at our stadium, but we don’t use this kind of thing for politics. Our enemies are paid to write things like that. I didn’t invite Mo Salah or the Egyptian team. They chose us themselves.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported Mohamed Salah scored his first World Cup goal when Egypt were defeated by Russia.

The Liverpool striker scored from the penalty spot but it was not enough to give his side a comeback as they lost by 3-1.
