The likes of Chris Smalling (captain), Matteo Darmian, Marcus Rojo, Morgan Schneiderlin, Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford started the game at De Kuip.
Anthony Martial had the opportunity to open the scoring towards the end of the first half after a wonderful combination by Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Matteo Darmian on the right with the latter crossing for the Frenchman.

However, Martial could only volley wide after controlling the cross just outside the box.
Mourinho brought on Zlatan Ibrahmovic, Ashely Young and Memphis Depay in place of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Juan Mata but neither of the trio could inspire a comeback.

This is Jose Mourinho's second defeat in competitive games for United following their 1-2 home loss to Manchester City.
