- Thomas Tuchel has boasted that Chelsea are going to Istanbul to win the Champions League
- The manager saw his side put up a phenomenal show to defeat Real Madrid in the semis
- It will be an all English team Champions League final as Chelsea face Man City on May 29
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has made his side’s intent known to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola when they meet in the Champions League final at Istanbul on May 29.
The Blues put up a breathtaking performance in their semifinal second leg defeating Spanish giants Real Madrid 2-0 to reach the final 3-1 on aggregates – after the first leg had ended 1-1.
Timo Werner headed home into the unguarded net in the first half before Mason Mount tucked home late in the second half to seal the win for the Blues.
Manchester City on the other hand brushed aside French side Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 on aggregates in the other semifinal to set up a tantalizing all English Premier League teams’ Champions League final in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
And Tuchel has said that his side will go for the title in Istanbul. He told Sky Sports Germany via Mirror:
"What is outstanding about this team - and I noticed it from the first time I arrived - is the bravery and punch to defend from the front. We are going to Istanbul to win.
"Second half was even better, the structure to defend and in the second half, we could've scored much earlier - I could've scored more. It's a fantastic achievement and big congratulations to the team."
Following their qualification for the Champions League final, the entire Etihad Stadium went into wild celebrations as Manchester City stars and officials celebrate all through the night.
Footage shared by Zack Steffen showed how players went haywire right in the dressing room to celebrate victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal of the tournament.
Back up goalkeeper Steffen uploaded a clip showing the likes of Kyle Walker, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte and members of the coaching staff can be seen singing and dancing in jubilant fashion.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Labour Party Member of Parliament, Clive Efford, is calling on the government to deny travel access to football fans hoping to flood Turkey for the Champions League final billed for May 29.
Manchester City have already booked their spot and are awaiting the winner between Chelsea and Real Madrid in the second leg.
