Drogba Describes Mikel As Chelsea's Playmaker In Club's 2012 UCL Triumph Against Bayern

Didier Drogba was instrumental to Chelsea's first Champions League win during the 2011-12 season when they defeated Bayern Munich in the final at the Allianz Arena, Champions League Twitter.

The Ivorian legend flashed back at the memories that changed his life as a player and did not forget his former teammate John Mikel Obi's contribution in the midfield.

The handlers of Champions League's Twitter page posted a video on Twitter of Mikel's outstanding performance in the 2012 UCL final.

Drogba was quick to retweet the tweet as he commended that the former Nigerian international for playing an integral part in the Blues' success in the final against the Bundesliga giants on their home turf.

The video clip displayed the highlights of how Mikel dominated the midfield.

Playing in front of the back-four, Mikel hardly gave away the ball to his opponents and was also not in a hurry to pass the ball.

Bayern's pressure did not bother the Super Eagles icon's ball distribution, as it was second to none. Another part of the clip showed Mikel making long passes on two occasions to Drogba and one to Florent Malouda.

In front of 65,000 fans, Bayern spectacularly took the lead in the 83rd minute through Thomas Muller as the Bavarians thought they were coasting to victory.

But Drogba headed home Juan Mata's cross from the corner flank as he sent the match into extra-time. The goalscorer then conceded a penalty after fouling Frack Ribery in the box.

Petr Cech became another hero for the Blues as he saved the spot-kick as the match went into shoot-outs after 120 minutes.

The Czech Republic shot-stopper saved two penalties as Drogba scored the decisive spot-kick to hand Chelsea their first shot at the elite silverware.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Taribo West no doubt is the most successful Nigerian defender that played in Europe but his success story about how he lived the dream is something to write home about.

The former Nigerian international said he ran away from his father's house after being told he was going to be a roadside mechanic.
